The boys were looking forward to their second game of the season after the good work produced in the game against Livvie. It would be a strange affair with the players mixing in so no doubt things would go amiss. We had nearly 2 complete teams and were totally mixed so no one area would dominate, we were playing U13 rules but with full 8 man packs. The game got going and both teams looked as though they were pretty well matched as they parried early on for both possession and territory. Our hosts scored first after a bit of loose play but Lasswade replied very quickly evening up the try count. It was clear to see early on the type of running rugby the cougars were playing it was good to see the support they were providing but Lasswades S1 backs kept a bit of shape and served up a good dose of defense to stop them scoring on more than one occasion We did attack a few times back with lack of support and technical nouse we lost ball far too easily and far too often. By the end of the 1st half RHC were leading the board.
With a new half a new team was put out, the hosts seemed to run a bit stronger and straighter and they were finding space outside which resulted in them scoring a few more times. Yet again when we attacked it was a case of one man rugby with no support so it was easy pickings.
Unfortunately there is not a lot of positives that can be had from this experience, the U14 boys in general did not play at all well while the usual suspects doing what they normally do ie Cammie, Duncan and once again stand out Sean. I was pleased with Lewis as he is looking more comfortable now and is looking to get more involved.
We know what we need to work on.....
