Lasswade showed great spirit in taking the game to their visitors from the start. Grant was able to power through, early doors to put 'Swade up. Captain Scott's conversion extended the lead.

A very positive start, though the signs were showing that Bishop's steel started to show as they fought back against the driving wind. A loose ball in their own 22, was collected and spun out to their pacey winger who streaked up the pitch to score a great try. Their conversion levelled the score.

Fearing the worst, Lasswade again worked their way upfield from the restart, however lost possession to put them back on their heels. Bishop inexpliccably dropped the ball enabling Daniel Sh. to gain the the space and speed to fly up the left wing for another touchdown. Again, Captain Scott slotted the kick between the sticks to go in at half-time with a slender lead.

HALF TIME: LASSWADE S1'S 14 v BISHOP AUCKLAND U13 7

In the second half, two or three injuries early on unballanced the team while Bishop Auckland seem to bolster theirs with a number of useful additions. Their physical running up the middle of the pitch paid dividends as they were able to string a number of tries together, to put the score seemingly way out ahead. However, the 'Swade boys never gave in and were eventually rewarded with one of their own when Cammy McF dived over into the corner from a line out and drive move.

A very enjoyable match played in great spirit came to an end, to everyone's relief to be able to get some warmth.

A big mention to Gavin and Nick, our Primary 7 lads who played their first match on a 'big' pitch. They both stood up to the challenge and enjoyed their experience. They cant wait until next season now!
